LEGAL STAFF
Laurel Cotton
Laurel is an incredibly valuable member of the firm. She attended Marquette University and obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2010 from the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare at UW-Milwaukee. Laurel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. She has had these certifications since 2014.
Laurel plays a dynamic role in the firm. She is chiefly involved in high level strategizing on cases that have a substance abuse or mental health dimension. Laurel’s role has expanded as society and courts have become more accepting of those suffering from mental illness. With her vast experience working with that population (and working with clients of the firm) Laurel works with the attorneys to identity the right treatment programs for our clients. Prior to joining the firm, Laurel was a clerk at the Waukesha County Courthouse working for the judiciary.
Kim Vaughan
Kim has been with the firm for over ten years and is the firm’s office manager. She runs nearly all of the day-to-day operations at Kuchler & Cotton. She manages the two office locations (Wauwatosa and Waukesha). She assists lawyers with virtually all projects. She collects fees, manages payment plans (in the rare event one is offered) and drafts a variety of documents as needed by the lawyers. There isn’t a job duty in the office that Kim can’t handle.
Kate Bohler
Kate is the firm’s senior paralegal who assists the team on all complicated projects. Kate graduated from UW-Madison in 2017 with a double major in Social Welfare/Human Development and Family Studies. Kate also supplemented her education by completing the MATC Paralegal Studies Program in 2019.
Kate is an integral part of the office. Her work ethic is unparalleled and she puts in countless hours to help the firm’s clients achieve positive outcomes on their cases. When cases go to trial Kate is often the one working behind the scenes making sure everything is in perfect shape. Some but not all of her duties involve coordinating witnesses, preparing power point presentations, analyzing discovery, and developing theories of defense.
Angela Pavon
Angela is the point person at the firm and another one of our talented paralegals. When you call the firm, Angela is the first person you will speak with. Angela graduated from Marquette University in 2022 with dual degrees in Political Science as well as Criminology and Law Studies. Angela is an unbelievable asset to the firm and works around the clock to make sure clients are kept highly informed about their cases. Angela is also fluent in Spanish and is a certified interpreter as well. Some of her many duties include organizing police reports, watching squad and body cam footage, communicating with clients, conducting client intake and discussing fees with prospective clients.
